What is Huayan?

The Huayan or Flower Garland school of Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist philosophy that is focused on explaining absolute reality, from the viewpoint of one who is fully awakened. One of the key doctrine of Huayan is the mutual containment and interpenetration of all phenomena (dharmas). The Huayan school greatly influenced Chinese Chan (Zen), which assimilated many of the metaphysical teachings of Huayan.
