Feelings Exercises

Over the next week, choose one or more of the following exercises:

1. Research has shown that, except for grief, feelings only have a 90 second life span. (Of course, the feeling may return after a moment--depending on what new thoughts or circumstances arise.) What are your thoughts on this? In the coming week, write down what you notice in one instance where you carefully watch and follow a specific feeling you are experiencing.

2. Imagine being given the choice to be born with or without feelings. Explain which you would choose and why.

3. Give three examples where you might use the expression "I feel" but in fact are expressing a thought rather than a feeling.
