Buddha's Birthday & Refuge Ceremony

Celebrate the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha, the awakened teacher for our time. In celebrating the birth of the Buddha, we not only celebrate the man, Siddhartha Gotauma, but also the birth of the Buddha within each of us. Those who wish to dedicate themselves to the Buddhist path of practice are welcomed to participate in the Refuge Ceremony, in which one vows to uphold the Three Jewels of Buddhism: the Buddha (the Teacher), the Dharma (the Teachings), and the Sangha (the Community).

Please bring flowers (both live and cut) and fruit to place on the altar.
If the weather permits, the ceremony will be held outdoors.
Following the ceremony there will be a barbecue and time for fellowship.
Please bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share
All are welcome, regardless of faith tradition or lack thereof.

Directions

To Temple (218 Allen Park Place):
From Rt 5 (heading east):
Turn left onto Broad St. at intersection w/light, turn left onto Allen Park Place (first left after park).
From Rt 5 (heading west):
Turn right onto Broad St, then left onto Allen Park Place (first left after park).
Park on the street. There is a small parking area across from the Abbey, if that is full, anywhere along the street is fine.

To Studio (181 Kenwood Ave):
From Rt 5 (heading east):
Turn right onto W Hamilton Ave at intersection w/light, turn right onto Sherrill Rd (Sherrill Rd becomes Kenwood Ave after small bridge).
From Rt 5 (heading west):
Turn left onto Sherrill Rd, stay on Sherrill Rd, cross over small bridge, Sherrill Rd becomes Kenwood Ave.
Turn left from 181 Kenwood Ave, just past large stone building and red fire hydrant. Park in the back of the building. Use back entrance. Door to Bloom Yoga & Wellness will be on the left.
