Meditation Instruction

Meditation is a practice of relaxing the body and mind so that you are no longer at the mercy of thoughts or controlled by emotional states. Many spiritual traditions employ some kind of meditation practice, but meditation itself is not a religious or spiritual activity. There is no doctrine or belief system needed in order to practice meditation. Meditation teaches how to develop a nurturing quality toward yourself, while learning to strengthen the mind and see things clearly. Additionally, meditation provides the skills to better deal with stress, anxiety and negative mind states, such as anger and fear, while cultivating positive states like love and equanimity.

There is much scientific evidence demonstrating the benefits of a regular, dedicated meditation practice, such as:
  • Reduced Stress
  • Improved digestive function
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Improved immune system
  • Reduction in chronic pain
  • Better sleep
  • Assistance in addiction recovery
  • Strengthened clarity of mind
  • Improved self-esteem
  • More positive thinking
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Improved self awareness
