22nd Anniversary Celebration of Opening of Grafton Peace Pagoda - October 3, 2015 at 11:00am

Please join the Lotus Heart Zen sangha as they travel to the Grafton Peace Pagoda to take part in this special interfaith gathering to celebrate the anniversary of the building of the peace pagoda. There will be a potluck meal after the ceremony (please bring a vegetarian dish to share, and your own dishes and utensils). It may be cooler at the Peace Pagoda, so please be prepared to bring layers and a blanket! 


The ceremony begins at 11:00am with a sacred Buddhist ceremony. There will be 14 Japanese Buddhist monks and nuns and two Vietnamese monks, as well as several others from different faiths in attendance. Jun Yasuda, the resident nun at the Grafton Peace Pagoda, has invited Rev. Do'an Prajna to participate in the ceremony with the monks and nuns. 

In addition to the Buddhist ceremony, other events at the celebration:

• Story of the Grafton Peace Pagoda land donation
• Story of the rising of peace pagoda in Washington state
• Interfaith prayers for peace with a  focus on the African American community
• Music, dance, poetry
• Closing prayers with Dennis Banks - Anishinaabe Tribe and co-founder of American Indian Movement

In order to arrive early enough to find parking and attend the event from the start, we will leave at 7:30 am from Bloom Yoga.
