Pocket Chanting, Mantra & Gatha Guide
by Ven. Dr. Wonji Dharma

What is chanting? Chanting meditation means keeping a not moving mind, and perceiving the sound of your own voice. Perceiving your voice means perceiving your true self or true nature. Then you and the sound are never separate, which means that you and the whole universe are never separate. Thus, to perceive your true nature is to perceive universal substance. With regular chanting, your center gets stronger and stronger. When your center is stronger, you can control your feeling, condition and situation. In our Zen Centers, people practice together.

Pocket Compass of Zen Teaching
by Zen Master Seung Sahn

Over the years, since the Big Book “Compass of Zen” by Shambhala came out the shorter and concise “Compass of Zen Teaching” became unavailable. I revised it and it is now still available. I did it because I have had many people over the years tell me that they carried that old version in their bags, or rolled it up in back pockets until the manuscript eventually disintegrated. So know we have this smaller version that can actually fit in a big pocket or in your monk bag, please enjoy the cliff note like summaries, and may that conciseness cause you to examine the teasers further with your own curiosity. -- Ven. Buddhist Precepts: a guide for Western Buddhist Lay Practitioners                      by Ven. Dr. Wonji Dharma

In this 21st Century Quantum Physical World why observe Buddhist Precepts? Taking refuge in the three Jewels is the initial step in becoming a Buddhist and following the precepts forms the foundation of the path. Buddhist practitioners observe various levels of precepts, depending upon each individual’s level of commitment to the path. The initial refuge in the three Jewels signifies the starting point on the path of the eradication of suffering and the awakening of not just one’s self but all sentient beings.
